Alexander Ølgaard
My education: Educated at the conservatories of Copenhagen, Freiburg and Graz.
Previous employment: Contracts in Danish National Chamber Orchestra, Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Southern Jutland Symphony Orchestra (1. solo player). 2nd leader,Violas in Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg from 2009-2010.
My favorite musical composition: Wozzeck by Alban Berg, Bluebeard’s Castle by Bartok, Die Frau ohne Schatten by Richard Strauss and Tosca by Puccini.
My greatest musical experience: There are many to choose from… Mahler’s 7th Symphony with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and Claudio Abbado in 1999 was great. I will also never forget playing Ysaÿe’s String Trio in the final of the Danish Radio P2 chamber music competition.
My most memorable/funny/unusual experience in the Kapel: The strangest was my stage appearance as a Rococo musician in the opera “The Royal Physician’s Visit.”
When I’m not playing in the Kapel: I’m first violin in the Kroger Quartet, Violist in Trio Aristos, chess player, runner, baker and father.
