Claudio Flückiger

My education: Educated in Zürich, at both the Conservatory and the Opera House. Completed bachelor and masters in the horn class of Radovan Vlatkovic. I also played for two years in the orchestra of Opernhaus Zürich and several years in the Gustav Mahler youth orchestra.

My favorite musical composition: All the fantastic works of Richard Strauss- his operas alone are reason enough to become an opera hornist!

My greatest musical experience: Performing Idomeneo in Zurich on historic instruments with Nikolaus Harnoncourt conducting.

My most memorable/funny/unusual experience in the Kapel: For a swiss citizen who has never had contact with royalty, it is always a unique honor to play for Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark, especially as she is closely associated with the orchestra.

When I’m not playing in the Kapel: I play hockey, hike, ski in the swiss alps or volunteer for ecological projects – preferably in the tropics …
