My favorite musical composition: In the right situation with an inspiring conductor and attentive audience, I’ve experienced works magically aspire to “favourite” even if they aren’t on my own list of desert island pieces. That list would include Bach’s Unaccompanied Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin, Mozart’s string quintets, Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet and the symphonies of Brahms. Plus all of Mozarts operas, and….
My greatest musical experience: Without doubt, one of my greatest and most inspiring experiences was playing with Simon Rattle in February 2013, when he accepted the Leonie Sonning award.
My most memorable/funny/unusual experience in the Kapel: I appreciate every day in the orchestra. A simple tuesday evening can reach incomparable heights when a beautiful solo is played in the pit or sung from the stage. We’ve also had many fine musical and personal moments together on tour, for example in New York in 2011 when we performed at the Lincoln Center Festival.
When I’m not playing in the Kapel: During free time I meet with family and friends, enjoy sailing and going for an occasional run. Since 2002 I’ve been on the board of the friends of San Cataldo association. In addition, I would like to spend more time playing chamber music.
