Marie Holzegel
My education: Wuerzburg (Hermann Klemeyer), Freiburg (Robert Aitken), Berlin (Benoir Fromanger), Stuttgart (Jean-Claude Gerard), piccolo Claire Genewein, Zürich.
My favourite composition: It is always changing. It depends on who is playing and what mood I am in, but I always love Shostakovich.
My greatest musical experience: Playing under the baton of Adam Fischer.
My most memorable/funny/unusual experience in the Kapel: When the entire orchestra surprised me by playing “Happy Birthday” for my 30th birthday. It was so touching.
When I’m not playing in the Kapel: I have a black belt in Judo, but these days I prefer to go running in the woods and nature.
