Mikkel Futtrup
Education: I started to play violin at the age of 5 at the Danish Suzuki Institute with Tove and Bela Detreköy. From 1988 to 1993, studies with Professor Gerhard Schulz (Alban Berg Quartet), The University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna. From 1993 to 1996, studies with Almita and Roland Vamos, The Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Ohio.
My favorite musical composition: There are so many: everything by Mozart, Haydn, Bach and Beethoven etc… to Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Sinatra and the Beatles.
My greatest musical experience: There’s been many, and I hope to be part of creating more of them.
My most memorable/funny/unusual experience in the Kapel: There’s also many of those, but the very first one took place even before I joined the orchestra. With only 48 hours notice I appeared as the soloist in the Nielsen Violin Concerto at the Royal Danish Orchestra’s 550th anniversary concert in 1998.
