My favourite musical composition: For me it’s an impossible task to choose a favourite musical composition!
Some days I listen to chamber music a lot, such as Beethoven piano/violin sonatas, Schubert string quartets, and I think that this music must be the most beautiful ever written! Then the next moment, sitting in the orchestra pit, I think exactly the same thing in the Prelude of Wagners Lohengrin. Luckily, that’s how I feel about most music!
My greatest musical experience: One of the many musical experiences I will not forget, was when the Kapel last year played Beethoven 4th symphony and Schubert 9th with Marek Janowski conducting. Unfortunately I didn’t play the concert myself, but I had then the great opportunity to go and listen instead. Wow, what a energy, and what a concert! I enjoyed that very much!
My most memorable/funny/unusual experience in the Kapel: I haven’t been in the orchestra for very long, so hopefully the future will bring lots of fun! However, if I had to mention a funny and a little bit silly experience, then it would be our crazy “ball-throwing fight” during Figaro at the old theatre. For once, the orchestra was placed on stage and not in the orchestra pit. At one point in the opera, a thin curtain was covering us during a long recitative without orchestra, and we simply went mad with some small plastic balls lying around us on the floor. They were flying everywhere; especially trying to hit the timpani was of course a big hit! ; )
When I’m not playing in the Kapel: Right now my life has taken a bit of a turn, as in January I became the mother of a very sweet little boy. But apart from all the fantastic new moments in my life right now, I do love playing chamber music, and however nerdy it may sound, I actually also enjoy practicing in order to stay in shape.
